ABOUT PACIFIC BEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC
About
PBMS currently engages more than 250 of its 620 students in eight instrumental and choral ensembles, including Beginner Grade Strings, Beginner Grade Band, Intermediate Strings,
Intermediate Band, Orchestra, and Concert Band. The school introduced Choir and Jazz Ensemble this year as well. The ensembles build on the music introductions taught at Crown Point Junior Music Academy, Pacific Beach Elementary School (PBE), Kate Sessions Elementary, and Barnard Mandarin Magnet Elementary School, and provide PBMS students with the opportunity to explore and expand their musical skills before high school. Our Music Director, Lisa Mansfield
Lisa Mansfield is excited to join the Pacific Beach Middle School as the Band and Choir teacher. On account of her husband’s navy career, she has taught music for over twenty years in CA, MD, WA, AZ, and Italy. In 2022, she was honored to receive CMEA’s Fortissimo outstanding middle school teacher award for the Southern Border Section.
Mrs. Mansfield holds a Bachelor degree in Music Education from Duquesne University, and a Master’s degree in Music Education from University of Washington. Lisa and her husband, Bruce, enjoy traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with their 2 teenage children.
Lisa believes that every child deserves a high-quality music education taught by a music specialist. Teaching students how to make music is her passion! She loves seeing the lightbulb moments when children grasp a new or challenging topic. She diligently works to help every child achieve success with rhythm and note reading, as well as assist him/her feel confident in the playing and performance on an instrument or voice.
